A Delaware Vehicle Bill of Sale is proof of the sale to which both the parties (buyer and seller) have agreed upon. It holds all the details of the transaction between buyer and the seller including the description of vehicle and the seller’s and buyer’s information. In the State of Delaware, the Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) requires the seller to sign a Vehicle Transfer Notification with Buyer Information form to complete a sale. Under Title 21, Delaware Code, Chapter 63, § 6305. Bill of Sale, Every motor vehicle dealer shall complete, in duplicate, a bill of sale for each sale or exchange of a motor vehicle. The seller must complete, sign and give this bill of sale to the buyer.

How to Write : Delaware Vehicle Bill of Sale Form

  • Begin with entering your (seller) name in the blank below which it says Name of the Seller.
  • Next four steps include description of the vehicle. First, provide the make of the vehicle followed by the model in the next line. Make and model refers to the manufacturer and the particular brand of the vehicle.
  • Proceed to the next line to enter the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) which can be seen at the lower right end of the wind shield.
  • Next blank to fill is the Tag Number of the vehicle to be sold. A Tag Number is the license plate number of the vehicle.
  • Now provide the information of the buyer. Enter the name of the buyer, followed by the complete address (street address, city/state/zip).
  • Mention the date of sale as month/day/year.
  • Specify the selling price of the vehicle in the next part.
  • The concluding part must include the seller’s signature and date.

After completing the Bill of Sale, the seller must transfer the title to the buyer which is then used by the buyer to register the vehicle. A Bill of Sale is useful when applying for temporary license plate, proving the warranty that you are entitled to.
