A bill of sale is a legal document that records the transfer of ownership of an item/asset/property. It is documentation between buyer and seller which helps in avoiding future disputes between the two parties involved in the sale transaction.
In the same way, the Iowa Bill of Sale Form is filled to maintain a legal record of the sale of a motor vehicle in the state of Iowa and also the transfer of ownership of the same from seller to buyer. The form is not compulsory but it is important for documentation purposes and for personal records of the buyer and seller. The form should be filled in ink.
Instructions to fill the Iowa Bill of Sale Form
- Begin the form by entering the full legal name of the seller of the vehicle.
- Then enter details of the vehicle being sold – make/manufacturer, year of manufacture and VIN (vehicle identification number).
- Now enter the full legal name of the buyer followed by the amount being paid for the vehicle in US Dollars. Also mention the exact date of sale of the vehicle in question.
- The form must then be notarized by a Notary Public. Along with stamp/seal, the Notary must also mention the date (day, month and year) and also the state of USA in which notarization has taken place.
